Hafis Williams was on Power Hour last night, and had a great 15 minute interview. Hafis comes across as a real character, and a genuinely nice kid. Some of his comments:
On CW offering him the scholarship via telephone: "I just stopped right there, I couldn't say nothing else. I was just in pause the whole time. I was in complete shock." On actually seeing the written ND Scholarship offer: "It (the offer) was sitting on my bed, and I just couldn't open it. I just lept looking at it, then I finally opened it, and I read it, and I just came to tears when I read it."
Hafis will be at the B&G game with one of his coaches. The B&G game is his only planned visit to any school until after the completion of his 2007 Football season. From his comments it appears that Hafis is going to end up choosing between ND & Rutgers. If you went only by his answers to the relative importance of certain factors in determining his school choice (academics, coaching staff, location, playing position, etc) you would have to think that ND was a lock, but it is way too early to be sure of that. Hafis indicated that he is in no hurry to make a committment, and may wait until NSD to decide.
